A Healthy Diet of Surprising Simplicity

When it comes to diets too many people make the same mistake: The less food you eat, the better. This is a mistake. It's not how much you eat, it's what you eat.

First off, you should determine how many calories you are shooting for. Find out the weight you are shooting for, and multiply that by 15; that number is how many calories you should be eating day. If you are shooting for 100 pounds, that means you should eating 1500 calories, and if your target is 160 pounds then you should be eating 2400 calories. Eventually your weight will become that target if you maintain a physically-demanding lifestyle. A lot of diets will tell you how much you should eat, and but only in general terms; that number is how precisely how many calories you should be eating.

Carbohydrates are not your enemy, contrary to a lot of bad publicity. You need them in order function, but try to get them from healthy sources; this means fewer processed foods, especially those with sugars, and more items like wheat bread. Use them for the bulk of your diet and you should do fine. If you notice that you are light-headed then grab some loaded with carbohydrates and you will be fine in a few minutes; the usual problem is that your body needs some energy and that's the quickest way to do it.

Meats are another problem, as is dairy. Most of the unhealthy fat in your diet comes from these groups. You need some fat, so don't eliminate too much of it from your diet, but lean meats and products made from skim milk are fine. Cottage cheese and yogurt are fine, but keep in mind that they aren't your only options for that valuable calcium. If you've eliminated them from your diet, you will need to eat a lot of beans and dark green vegetables; there is a reason that vegetarians are said not to eat so much as to graze.

Obviously fruit and vegetables will always be your friends. Eat a nice variety, and avoid color-based diets; it sounds good but they usually tend to be stupid choices. They also tend to be featured in a lot of clear-out diets; basically, you make some sort of vegetable soup and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables but no carbohydrates; avoid them as well. Fruits and vegetables should be used as part of a balanced diet, not to replace it; if you eat a balanced diet and combine it with at least thirty minutes of exercise you will do great.

The craft services table should not be your enemy. You just need to learn to navigate and know where the reefs are. Avoid fad diets and talk to an actual doctor before going on any diet; you may not need to lose as much weight as you think you do. Just remember to eat healthy and you should do great!
