Commercial/industrial photographer advice and information

Commercial/industrial photographer

A commercial/industrial photographer or a corporate photographer takes employment from businesses and organisations, The normal workload of an industrial photographer will include internal newsletter, magazine publication photographs to portraits of staff members for annual reports and other publicity events, as well as  photographs for an organisation's website. A commercial photographer will also take the photographs for an organisation or a business for use in the media.

Commercial and industrial photographers are normally freelancers and this is seen as the bread and butter in the freelance world.

A good Commercial photographer will have an understanding of how photographs work in the media, and any industrial photographer will nearly always have a portfolio, if they do not they will probably be new to the industry, don’t let this put you off just make sure the price you pay is relevant to what your expecting as a result.

Commercial photographers will have to be confident organizing large groups of people around as well as working with people who know little about being photographed.

It is probably worth checking if you are worried about the photographer’s appearance, if you are organizing a suit and tie event that the photographer will be mirroring that, a simple email or phone call will be sufficient.

Have a little trust in your commercial photographer, have some suggestions ready for them on what you would like them to do/who you would like photographed, areas of interest, at the end of the day if they take something extra different to your requirements you don’t have to use it!
