Do’s and don'ts of Modelling

Do’s

  1. Pass these guidelines to other models
  2. Always take someone with you when meeting new photographers and for photo shoot’s
  3. Ensure your chosen photographer is reputable (see how to find a reputable photographer)
  4. Get recommendations from other people
  5. Ensure the photographer knows what sort of photographs you would like – take examples if necessary.
  6. Be aware of signing a model release form – this is quite normal, but check the terms and conditions first.
  7. The photographer too is trying to show off his or her work, so try and be adaptable to their requirements.
  8. Check what the photographer intends on doing with the photographs.
  9. Enjoy modelling!

Don’ts

  1. Do not agree to do anything you are not comfortable with – a genuine photographer will not ask you to do anything you do not want to do.
  2. Do not sign to the first agency that offers you work (see our guide to finding a reputable agency)
  3. Do not give out personal details until you are sure of whom you are to be working with.
  4. Do not worry! As long as you have done all the necessary checks, and have your safety assured, relax and you will end up with some fantastic photographs.
