Sports Photography
There are two types of sports photographers there are photographers
who are press/news photographers but are also capable of sports
photography and then there are the specialists.
Specialist sports photographers will not only have all the right
equipment for the job they will also have both a full understanding of
the rules of the sport they are photographing which will lead to
better photographs, they will also be able to read the game better and
have a better understanding what, where and when to photograph.
Other benefits a full time sports photographer will give you is of
knowledge of the players, backroom staff and officials involved, the
sports photographer knows this ultimately will have more relevance to
the story involved.
The processional sports photographer will undoubtedly be more ready
for the unexpected, say for example something at the game/match that
is more important than the game itself, they will have a good repore
with staff due to them meeting often which will then in turn lead to
tip offs, like a celebrity in the crowd, a person in fancy dress or a
organised banner these are just a few examples of how a sports
photographer comes into its own.
The Professional sports photographer could well have stock photographs
available if a player in the game does something newsworthy relevant
to what they have actually done.
Most important of all a full time sports photographer will be able to
read the game this will lead to them not only getting in the best spot
possible but they will know exactly what to look out for when an
occasion happens, for example whenever a striker scores he always runs
towards the same corner? Or a manager always stands up and cheers when
a goal goes in, but most important of all the sports photographer will
be more news aware and will know exactly what is needed.
