The Pros and Cons of Posing Nude

Sooner or later it happens to all models: You are offered your first nude shoot. There are generally three types of reactions: not worried, debating, and won't do. “Not worried” types have no problems doing the shoot; they are usually not only comfortable in their own skin, but are also uninhibited or exhibitionistic. They will do the shoot and have fun with it. “Won't do” types have already decided not to do that kind of shoot, either because they don't see the need to or because of moral issues. “Debating” types have some issues that they need to decide on.

There are a number of pros and cons about nude shoots. The biggest problem is that you may lose some gigs and not be considered hirable by other clients; that's just part of the price to pay for making the decision to be shot; it's not something to worry about. You need to realize that any time that you put yourself in front of the camera, you are limiting potential gigs. That's just part of the business; few models do more than a few types of modeling jobs. So don't let it get to you.

Another con is that you may gain a stalker. Some people get the wrong ideas from you for even thinking about doing a nude shoot, much less even actually doing it, and so someone may try to act on those thoughts; this is where those martial arts classes come in handy. If you do gain a stalker, it is up to you to decide if you need police intervention or not. It is definitely advised, given all that can happen. Do not be afraid to ask for help; you will not be seen as weaker for asking it.

The pro is that you may get a fanbase, or your current fanbase may actually grow. As a model you want some recognition for what you do, and having a fanbase is proof of that recognition. That recognition actually helps you get bigger gigs, so there is an incentive to do the shoot. Although this is one of the more debatable ways to grow it, this is one of the best ways to do it. Also, it may sound weird to non-models, but there is a certain warm fuzzy feeling when people show appreciation for all of the hard work you do in order to get your body where it is. The final pro is that there usually a greater fee paid for when you do nude shoots, but strangely that appreciation makes it worth it.

If you actually do go through with it, make sure to take as many precautions as possible against additional ramifications. Make sure that the set is closed as possible; the idea is more to prevent pictures of you getting out than anything else. Otherwise, there should be no problem with the shoot, and it can be sort of fun as long as everyone is mostly professional about it.
