What is TFP (Time for prints)?

In today’s world nearly everyone has a digital camera, which of course makes everyone a photographer!

Competition in both the photographic and modelling industry is fierce so having a constantly updated and good portfolio of photographs is vital. This is where TFP is integral to maintaining your portfolio without the huge costs involved of hiring expensive photographers and equipment.

TFP are sets of free prints given to the model to be used in self-promotion. Photographers also use TFP to trade with other photographer, which of course gives greater exposure of their work.

For models and photographers to work together, providing each other with the much needed practise and experience is a fantastic way to kick start your careers.

As with test shoots, TFP prints or cd’s are provided in exchange for both the photographer and model’s time. This, over a period of time can help build a varied and strong portfolio. Occasionally payments can be made, but TFP is the most common way when the photographer and model are working together free of charge.

In general TFP is a win win situation. For both parties, when working together free of charge, the pressure is off, and you can both relax, and enjoy the experience, knowing that the finished result could well be the start of a successful career.
